Call for Application: LUISS PhD in Management
LUISS invites outstanding candidates to apply for the PhD Program in Management. The PhD is an intense and rigorous programme that equips student with the research skills to become world-leading experts in the chosen field of studies. Under the guidance of an internationally renowned faculty, students conduct independent field-based research in corporate governance, innovation and organization, marketing, and corporate strategy. Primary areas of faculty research include: business model innovation; coordination of globally distributed teams; corporate / subsidiary interface; integrated reporting; internationalization of SMEs; international human resource management; management of mega projects; organization design; organizational learning and adaptation; social entrepreneurship and social capital; and word-of-mouth-led innovation. LUISS faculty have published papers in Administrative Science Quarterly, Industrial and Corporate Change, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Information Technology, Journal of International Management, Journal of Marketing Research, Organization Science, Psychological Science, Research Policy, and Strategic Management Journal.
The PhD is a 4-year full time programme. All classes are taught in English. The first two years are dedicated to coursework, while the third and fourth years are dedicated to research and dissertation. Year 1 consists of disciplinary courses in management and research methods. Year 2 is dedicated to courses on a chosen field of specialization, concluding with the development of a research proposal. Years 3 and 4 are devoted to research and to dissertation preparation, culminating in the submission and defense of the thesis. To develop a program suited to their interests, students are encouraged to gain research experience by closely working with the LUISS faculty and to spend at least one semester at an internationally renowned research university.
Graduating students find placement primarily in the world of research, both academic and non-academic, as well as in large consulting organizations and firms. Recent placements include Bocconi University (I), Carlos III University (ES), Copenhagen Business School (DK), University of Hamburg (DE), University of Leuven (B), and University of San Francisco State (US).
LUISS offers up to six fellowships to attend the PhD. Admitted students are offered a financial support package which includes a tuition waiver and a stipend of approx. 13.500€ net per year to cover living expenses during the 4 years of the degree. Additionally, students have access to funding for research trips as well as a grant increment if they spend a visiting period at a prestigious international university.
